3 Must Read Books

I know there are thousands of people who have made lists on the best books to read for game designers, that’s why this list is slightly different. It’s a list of books that will improve skills that help you design better games, but aren’t game-design related.

Story: Substance, Structure, Style and The Principles of Screenwriting
This is by far the best book on writing. Íf you want to know about the science and structure of story-telling, this is the book you need. Believe me, you can’t imagine the things you’ll learn. Why are you still reading this,

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
I was pretty sceptic when this book first crossed my path, but that soon went away when I started reading. It will sound cheesy, but this book has literally changed my life and still is changing my life. This book can help you get organized and deal with everyday life. There is an amount of freedom and rest that comes along with working towards a better life.  This book can pretty much help anyone and I truly believe everyone should read it. Buy it

Game Architecture & Design
This is where I start to cheat a little bit. I know I said that this wasn’t supposed to have anything to do with game design, but this book teaches you about working in a game company more than about game design itself. It teaches you work-structure & systems. Not to say the game design parts of the book aren’t good, because they are. I especially like that the author refers to events that happened B.C. with regards to game design.
It’s a good read and therefore my third recommendation. Buy it
